Privacy Policy
Typelican is a word puzzle game made by Vasilii Mekhontsev ("we"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- No account, no login, no ads, no purchases.
- Your progress stays on your device.
- We use Google Analytics for Firebase to see, anonymously, how the game is played. No tracking across other apps or websites, and no advertising identifier.
What stays on your device
Your solved puzzles, streak, records, Collection, saved puzzles and settings are stored only on your iPhone. We don't have a server that holds them, and we can't see them. Deleting the app deletes this data.
What we collect for analytics
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase (by Google) to send anonymous usage data:
- gameplay events, such as starting a mode, solving or skipping a puzzle, using a hint, or sharing a card, with the puzzle's ID;
- screens viewed and session length;
- device model, iOS version and app version;
- an app instance ID created by Firebase for this installation;
- approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address. We don't use your device's location services.
What we don't collect
Your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, microphone or camera input, or anything you type into the answer field. We don't link analytics data to you and don't use it for advertising. The app doesn't use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and doesn't ask for tracking permission.
Why we use it
To understand whether the game works for players: which puzzles are too hard, which modes people come back to, whether sharing works. Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in improving the game.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Google processes it under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in California law.
Apple
Apple, which runs the App Store, collects its own data about downloads and app usage under Apple's privacy policy. We see only aggregated statistics from it.
Photos
When you tap "Save to Photos" on a share card, iOS asks for permission to add images. The app only adds the card you chose; it never reads your photo library.
Sharing
When you share a card, the standard iOS share sheet sends the image and a link to the app you pick. What happens next is governed by that app's own policy.
Notifications
If you allow it, the app schedules a daily reminder on your device. Reminders are local: no server and no push tokens. You can turn them off in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings > Notifications > Typelican.
Your choices and rights
- To remove all data stored on your device, delete the app.
- Because we don't collect identifiers tied to you, we usually can't find data about a specific person. If you want to ask about your data or request its deletion, write to [email protected]. We reply within 30 days and will do what we can with what we have.
Children
Typelican is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
